CADET RESTAURANT - MONTREAL
We attended a show at Place des Arts this Sunday in April. Given the scarcity of dining offerings on Sundays and Mondays, Le Cadet quickly became our obvious choice. This restaurant is the little brother of Bouillon Bilk, as its name suggests, but the atmosphere is slightly different. I had already visited this place during the summer of 2022, and I had mixed memories of it, not because the experience was disappointing, but because I felt like I had made bad choices.
During our recent visit, the menu had likely changed to welcome spring, emphasizing freshness (see our picks below). The restaurant could be more comfortable, with improved seating and better distributed air conditioning. Nevertheless, the relaxed and warm atmosphere is pleasant.
My reservs end there, because the fresh and innovative menu charmed us. A big shout out to the chef for the scallop, kumquat, tomatillo and chili crudo, which was both hot and tangy, while showcasing the delicate flavor of the fresh scallops. The Nordic risotto was comforting and fresh at the same time. The veal cheek, which I usually cook in winter, had a spring feel thanks to its accompaniment of cucumber, sour cream and fresh herbs. Even the cheesecake was surprisingly light.
I can't wait to attend our next show and return to Le Cadet to discover the chef's new creations.
