MON LAPIN RESTAURANT - MONTREAL
It is extremely difficult to land a table in this restaurant located in the heart of Little Italy. As soon as you walk through the door, you realize that every seat is occupied. The warm atmosphere and friendly ambiance permeate the entire place, while the exceptional service is evident from the first step on the black and white ceramic floor.
The waiter approaches our counter with remarkable speed to present the menu and give us suggestions. After carefully considering the different options, we quickly made our choice from our four favorite dishes. To accompany our selections, we opted for wine suggestions by the glass that went perfectly with each specialty.
Our first dish of raw scallops arrived quickly and we were enchanted by the delicacy of the scallops from the Magdalen Islands accompanied by a blanquette of rabioles. This combination was both original and tasty. The presentation of the dish was simply unique, immediately capturing our attention. The freshness of the ingredients was undeniable and won over our palates from the first bite.
The second course was just as successful, with white asparagus and rhubarb accompanied by delicious pieces of crunchy chicken skin. The combination of sweet and savory flavors in this dish pleasantly surprised and delighted us.
Subsequently, as we gave the chef some freedom for our meal, we were pleasantly surprised by the delicious proposition he presented to us: a New Brunswick wild sea bass accompanied by rapini and lardo. The delicate white flesh was perfectly prepared. It went wonderfully with the rich tastes of the lardo. As for the rapini, it brought a touch of freshness and texture to the whole dish. Its slightly bitter flavor blended surprisingly well with the fish and lardo, creating a perfect balance between the different flavors.
The quality of the dishes continued to increase throughout our meal. We were delighted by the sublime rotolo with ricotta and lobster, accompanied by a delicious green butter sauce. Not only was the dish visually stunning, but it was also perfectly prepared, displaying exceptional culinary mastery.
We thought we had reached the peak of flavors so far, however, our enthusiasm reached new heights when we enjoyed our green salad with blue cheese and morels, topped with marrow. Although the presentation may seem ordinary, the delicacy of this specialty truly amazed us, offering a real explosion of taste in the mouth.
It was a true culinary feast, and our enthusiasm continued to grow until the delicious chocolate dessert. We named this place a true gastronomic gem. We were delighted by the ability to combine ingredients and flavors so harmoniously. This unique dining experience provided us with a memorable meal. We highly recommend this restaurant.
