UNI SUSHI RESTAURANT - South Shore of Montreal
For the past decade, we have been overwhelmed by a wave of fast food restaurants specializing in sushi. However, it's hard to believe that only thirty years ago, Japanese restaurants could be counted on the fingers of one hand in Montreal. Between this tide of fast food restaurants and renowned establishments such as Jun i, Otto Bistro (now Kitano Chokudo), Park and company, there are two distinct worlds. But what separates them most is the price gap. Finding a happy medium seems to be a challenge, which is where Uni Sushi stands out.
Tucked away in a modest strip mall on Taschereau Boulevard in Greenfield Park, Uni Sushi is a simple but cozy little restaurant, modestly flaunting its presence. Opting as usual for the Omakase, at $65 per person for 5 courses, we were pleasantly surprised with each dish.
During our visit, while the sugar season was in full swing, a salmon dish charmed us with its soy sauce and maple syrup, combining freshness and originality, thus meeting the essential criteria of a good sushi restaurant. Although the menu offers the usual North American classics (kamikaze, California roll, etc.), it is also full of original signature dishes that are worth discovering. We strongly advise you to focus on these.
The extremely friendly staff exudes a passion for cooking which is evident in each dish. Plus, being a βbring your own wineβ restaurant, this further sweetens the final bill.
With its welcoming atmosphere, innovative dishes and excellent value for money, Uni Sushi is surely destined to become one of your favorite restaurants on the south shore of Montreal.
