If you are a regular on our site, you probably have an idea of the type of restaurants we like. We are passionate about culinary discoveries and we prefer to share small plates over several courses rather than following the traditional starter-main course-dessert pattern. This trend, which is flourishing more and more in Montreal, is also gaining ground on the city's south shore. Recently, we discovered a real gem in the person of the restaurant Mercat 1484, located in St-Bruno-de-Montarville (formerly known as La Rabastalière).

A few years ago, we were saddened by the closure of the Mezcla restaurant, which had seduced us with its modern Peruvian cuisine in Montreal. We are now excited to discover Mercat 1484, even if it means venturing a little further afield, as it subtly combines Peruvian fusion cuisine with Spanish influences and local produce. Under the direction of Mario Navarrete Jr., the restaurant offers a simple yet sophisticated menu. To fully appreciate the team's culinary talents, we opted for the five-course tasting menu, offered at a more than reasonable price of $69 per person. The scallop ceviche and chimichurri prime rib were particularly popular with us, but every course of the meal was delicious, precise and flavorful. The impeccable presentation of the dishes made our mouths water at each service, and the portions were perfectly measured. Although we were reasonable in our wine consumption on a Tuesday evening, sommelier José Lopez gave us excellent recommendations that accompanied our meal perfectly.

Despite the low influx of customers at the start of the week, the warm and welcoming atmosphere of the restaurant immediately put us at ease. With its chic and relaxed atmosphere, this restaurant fits perfectly into an increasingly diverse gastronomic offer on the South Shore, for our greatest pleasure.
