KAMUY RESTAURANT - Montreal
If you're looking to enhance your dining experience before a show at Place des Arts, look no further than Kamúy. Located in the location formerly occupied by Taverne F since 2020, this little gastronomic gem nestled northwest of the PDA transports you directly to Haiti with its authentic flavors, thanks to the culinary vision of Canadian-Haitian star, Paul Toussaint , formerly of the famous Agrikol.
While Kamúy may not align with the bold restaurants we often blog about, its Haitian heritage is firmly ingrained in every dish. The restaurant offers a discovery menu at $75 per person, which can be adapted according to your preferences. You can also create your own meal to share, and fans of the classic starter-main-dessert will also find what they are looking for here.
The cocktail menu combines tradition and originality, while the selection of wines will delight connoisseurs. However, it's the food that steals the show. Opting for the $75 menu, we were pleasantly surprised by the 6 dishes shared between two. The sea bass ceviche was a real delight, but the highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the whole red snapper accompanied by passion fruit and watercress white butter. Spectacular.
Although the jerk chicken wasn't among the chef's choices, we had the chance to try our friends', and it was an absolute must: tender and flavorful.
Bravo, Chef Paul, for this memorable culinary experience!
