MELISSE RESTAURANT - Montreal

Nestled in the heart of the Multimedia City, in Old Montreal, the Mélisse restaurant has captivated our palate twice this year: a memorable evening last year and a recent lunch convinced us to add it to our addresses favorites in Montreal.

The concept of small dishes to share perfectly meets our expectations, even for a lunch, which is quite rare. The location of the restaurant is ideal, with a terrace overlooking a charming square reminiscent of old European villages, almost unmistakably. Although we chose to dine inside, the wall opening completely onto the patio made it feel like we were almost there. The interior decoration is of a calming beauty, despite the lively atmosphere that reigns at times.

The ultimate criterion for judging a restaurant remains the quality of its cuisine and its service. Despite some negative reviews regarding the service on Google, our experience was impeccable: the service stood out for its punctuality and friendliness. As for the cuisine, everything lived up to our expectations. The fish crudo, a refreshing alternative to the scallop crudo very popular these days, was presented with finesse and freshness. The beef tartare, playing on the current trend of reinventing this dish, offered a perfect blend of flavors and textures, with a crunchy note provided by the fried bulgur. Every dish, from the delicious bread served as an appetizer to the dessert, was simply excellent. Our only complaint would be the simplicity of the chicken and tzatziki skewer, although perfectly prepared and tasty, seemed a bit mundane to us who could easily replicate it at home.

We highly recommend the Mélisse restaurant as a great alternative for a lunch in Old Montreal.
